Studio Jeannot [ZHA-NO] is a full-service textile design practice — custom print and woven collections developed with clients from first concept through production. The work is collaborative by nature and specific by design.
SERVICES
STUDIO JEANNOT offers full-service textile design — from the earliest creative decisions through to production. The work is tailored to each client. Some arrive with a clear direction and need a skilled hand to realize it. Others are starting from nothing. We meet people where they are.
CREATIVE DIRECTION
Big-picture collection planning for clients who need more than individual designs — a cohesive point of view, a seasonal arc, a reason the work holds together. Thinking through a collection from the ground up, establishing the direction, and building toward it with intention.
WOVEN DEVELOPMENT
Custom jacquard and woven programs, taken from initial sketch to finished yardage. This is work that requires deep knowledge of structure, loom capability, and the particular language of mills — and long relationships with the people who run them. STUDIO JEANNOT brings both. For clients looking to develop a woven program with integrity and technical precision, this is where we are most distinctly ourselves.
PRINT DESIGN
Original surface design developed by hand and refined through a considered studio process. The work is technically precise and built around a drawing sensibility that has taken years to develop. It is some of the most demanding work we do, and among the most distinctive.

COLOR DEVELOPMENT
Color for print, wovens, embroidery, wallpaper, and beyond — palette development, colorway exploration, and refinement across a collection. Color is its own discipline, and one we approach with particular care. Done well, it is what gives a collection its feeling of wholeness.
PRODUCTION & DESIGN MANAGEMENT
Sourcing, mill liaison, sampling oversight, and follow-through from approved design to finished yardage. STUDIO JEANNOT maintains an established network of domestic and international mills — relationships built over years that clients gain access to through our work together.
LICENSING
STUDIO JEANNOT licenses original surface designs to brands for production. The archive spans print and pattern work developed independently of client commissions. We welcome inquiries from brands whose aesthetic aligns with the work.

STUDIO
FOUNDER
Marteen Allen founded STUDIO JEANNOT New York in 2022, after more than a decade working in-house at mills, fabric houses, and design companies across print, jacquard, embroidery, and wall-covering categories. She has spent her career in this industry — not at its edges, but at its working center.
She named the studio for her grandmother, Jeannot — a woman who remade her life entirely, and in doing so made a different life possible for those who came after. The name is an homage and a quiet instruction: keep going.
APPROACH
Marteen came to textiles through curiosity — by way of painting and graphic design, following her interests until they led somewhere she wanted to stay. That path shows in the work. A fine arts background shapes how she enters a project: with openness, with a willingness to let things develop, with an eye trained on more than just the technical. Years across different companies and sectors gave the practice its range. The result is a skillset that sits at an unusual intersection — and is genuinely difficult to replicate.
What the years also taught is that the best work happens between people who trust each other. Marteen's longest client relationships feel less like engagements and more like friendships — built on mutual respect, good communication, and a shared investment in getting it right. She is good at reading a room, better at reading a brief, and tends to understand what a project needs before it has been fully articulated. That instinct is part of what she brings.
EXPERIENCE
STUDIO JEANNOT has worked with independent brands, jobbers, interior designers, architects, weavers, and manufacturers. The work has been developed in studios and in mills on more than one continent. It has been featured in Business of Home, Wallpaper, Architectural Digest, and Surface Magazine.
The studio is based in New York City.
